Harm Reduction

Harm reduction takes many forms. We believe the greatest harm associated with cannabis use is the law. The most valuable way to reduce the harm is to know your rights. This page is designed to present information on how to reduce the other harms associated with cannabis consumption.

Of course, A sure way to reduce the harm is not use cannabis until the laws have changed. Help FL CAN change the laws today, join the Truth Police and become more involved.

The Four Second Rule

Vaporizers

Recipes

The Four Second Rule
America's foremost lung expert, Dr. Donald Tashkin of UCLA strongly recommended as a conference presenter, that cannabis inhalations be held in the lungs no longer than four seconds. Beyond that time there appears to be little therapeutic (or any other) effect and only allows more time for unwanted substances to work on the lungs.

Vaporizers

Vaporizers while relatively new have become quite popular. The idea behind them is that cannabinoids (active chemical compounds in cannabis) take a gaseous form at much lower temperatures than the plant material. Thus, you are able to gain all medicinal effects of the cannabis, without the harmful effects of smoking on the lungs.

Vaporizers also use cannabis much more effectively than by regular burning methods. Meaning that less cannabis will produce the same effect as a great deal more.

Cannabis Recipes
Cooking with cannabis, rather than smoking has the health benefit of not inhaling burning plant matter. However, the medicinal effects require 15 to 45 minutes for onset. Keep in mind that the effects of eaten cannabis are much stronger than smoked, as your stomach does not absorb .
